2018: Crazy Updates!!!

WOW!! It has been a while since I have stopped by here.... Life has taken a turn and taken me for a looooooong spin the last year...

Let's start with what happened...

I suffer from a chronic auto immune disease that, even with treatment there are times when it takes over me 100%... Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis and Fibromyalgia... Last year has been one of the hardest years of my 33 years on this earth...

Exactly a year ago I ended up in the hospital in excruciating pain. Doctors were rushing around me, running a million labs, EKG, CT Scans and MRI. Finally ER doctor comes in with a specialist in tow. The words emergency surgery, kidney failure, blood transfusion were all said in a matter of a few sentences. Before I knew what was going on I found myself in OR 2, laying on a freezing bed, counting to 0 from 30 and being put under. That's when  my life took a turn that has made my life somewhat of a living hell...

I ended up having to have 3 surgeries in a matter of 30 days... I had severe kidney stones shaped like oblong pills... very large stones... my recovery was not what the doctors expected... because the medication I take it's and immuno-supressant I had to stop taking my dosage... what this means is that when my immune system is compromised I am not allowed to take my weekly injections because they may cause additional illnesses and side effects... In a matter of a month I had lost 50 lbs, my muscle and joint strength weakened... I needed assistance in my every day activities like eating (sometimes the husband still cuts my food up), getting up from a sitting position (he still helps me get up), hygiene, driving and much more... at some point I was using a walker...

Afew days after my first surgery I had a book signing I was going to attend... and I did... It was amazing hearing the authors ask me how I was doing, checking in and reprimanding me for being up and walking around so soon after surgery ( Sorry Guys but I appreciate and love you all!) there was even a wheelchair available for me in case I needed to sit down and rest...

A year later and I am still having lots of pain, which it is somewhat controlled with monthly intravenous infusions and pain medication (supported by my specialist and pain management doctors). The few things that have kept me going have been my family and friends as well as my virtual friends. The authors who sent their books over to keep my mind occupied, thank you so much you made my days more doable and less long.

Our family grew by 8 paws! We adopted a fawn Great Dane which we named Bowser and a kitten named Ganondorff, aka Ganon. They come to complete our furry family!

The kiddo is not a kid anymore.. she will be 17 next month and is in her JR year of high school... she is looking forward to more HS fun and as she said the other day " Mom, how come HS is not like the movies? UGH!" well kid real life can be boring.
